Digging out from Global Warming

Recently in high country of North Carolina where I live Global Warming attacked with a vengeance. On my road we received 15+ inches of "white" heat. The temperature has not risen above freezing for a week and this is the south. I suppose if it were not for "Global Warming" we would not be enjoying this delightfully warm winter wonderland and the mercury would be hovering around zero instead of 18. I recall last summer the temperature soared to 83 degrees and stayed there for 3 days. We had to turn on a fan at our house, stop midday activities and drink lots of lemonade, but we survived.

We shouldn't worry though, Obama went to Copenhagen on the fuel efficient Air Force One to help plan another meeting to discuss planning another meeting to confront the problems of Global Warming and plan another meeting. Or, did he go to bow down to someone? Perhaps he will receive the "bent-knee" certificate of achievement for the most genuflects by an American President to place next to his Noble Peace Prize.

In the meantime try to stay cool in the boiling inferno know as Earth while the great leaders of the world and this country pick our pockets in order to formulate a method to return us to the horse and buggy era. That is except for corporate jets and Air Force One.

Take Tiger, Please take Tiger....AWAY

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." That includes you, me and Tiger Woods.

So, this article is not about moral failings but about Woods' iconic celebrity.

I have never liked Tiger Woods and am not in the least bit saddened by his departure from golf. In fact I would have been pleased to see him take his billions and fade into obscurity long before now, thus leaving the golf game in the hands of the competitors and out of the hands of big business and the paparazzi.

It is certainly true that his talent has stirred interest in the game but at what cost. We watch a tournament on TV where the leader is 7 strokes ahead of Woods and who do the cameras follow? You got it, ole' sulking (excuse me ...focused) Tiger himself. Will he surge? Is he hurt? Are his adoring fans, whom he ignores, distracting him? Is it possible that he is actually getting beaten?

I feel the game has suffered because of his limelight status and has lost its place in the arena of gentlemen, but then in this modern era who knows what a gentleman is anyway.

I feel sorry for his wife and children, but for him zip.

So Tiger, take your nine iron, sexual proclivity, and attitude on a long sabbatical and let the gentleman's game return.

DO CONSERVATIVES NEED A LEADER?

Leaders can be inspirational, but often they are not. Leaders can be motivators, but often they are not. Leaders can be teachers, but often they are not. If fact, there are times when leaders aren't needed. Such is the case now.

More has been done since the election of Barack Obama to motivate the conservative movement in this country than has been done in many decades, and without a leader. Leaders often tend, whether intentional or not, to enable laziness. In other words the masses wait in their stale little cubicles of life until a charismatic character comes along and stirs them to action. Then, when the immediate excitement is over they return to the mundane and wait for the next order. However, when the call goes out again fewer respond and soon the search is on for a new leader. The cycle repeats itself.

The conservative movement has transversed from a grassroots groundswell to a massive traditional values movement and is doing so without a distinctive leader. There are a few big movers out there but for the most part the movement is an army of patriots who are sick and tired of big government, higher taxes, elitism in Washington and state assemblies, and a well founded distrust for government in general. The army is shouting louder and louder the mantra that enough is enough.

The mainstream media, or as Bernie Goldberg calls them, the fringe media, are downplaying the reality of the movement, for they quake in fear that they will be dethroned and can no longer trumpet progressive liberalism with any real effect. The media have their very survival to fear if the good people win. Good people are winning and without a leader.

The masses often depend on a leader to do the thinking for them and that leader's philosophy and ideals transform the masses to think as he or she. Not so with the current conservative movement with its "Tea Parties" and "Take Back America" drive. No leader, no need for one, don't want one.

It can be noted that most tea parties don't have notable lecturers from the "speakers bureau", rather, regular folks who know the deal in the ditches and that's the way it should be. America is tired of "Hot Shots", with their fat fees, who think they know more about what's good for the folks than the folks themselves.

So, where does all this take us? If the lovers of liberty win, then America is saved. Conversely, if the liberals who hate America and liberty win America is doomed.

This is the greatest war and the most to lost since the War for Independence.

"We must all hang together," (John Hancock)"Yes" replied Benjamin Franklin, "We must all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately."

The question: Are lovers of liberty willing to risk hanging?

NO spin --- Terrorist, Period

Most of the news and opinion outlets have spun the Fort Hood massacre as not necessarily a radical Muslim terrorist attack. Well, I'm not a news outlet and I don't have to be politically correct, so, it was a terrorist attack and it was committed by an anti-American fully cognisant religious zealot. Clear enough?

When will this obsession with tender speech directed toward Islam end? For the weak hearted, never, but for the stout hearted, right now. I don't like Islam or any degree of it but I concede the right of Muslims to their belief and the free exercise thereof. Our Constitution guarantees it, but I have the right to stay as clear of it as possible. And, until I am shown solid evidence to the contrary I will believe that most Muslims are in sympathy with the Islamic terrorists. Now back to Fort Hood.

This tragedy could have been avoided if the warning signs which were everywhere, that Major Nidal Hasan was indeed a jihadist and a ticking time bomb, were heeded. But of course that would have been politically incorrect and totally unacceptable. Thus, America is one step closer to becoming a footnote in history as the country that squandered it's most valuable asset, Liberty.

Who's to blame for America's troubles? Is it the out of control government officials? Perhaps it's the liberals who are so touchy freely that their brains, if they have any, are on permanent furlough. Maybe it's those who know better but are too lazy to do anything about it. I vote for the latter. America is in a downward spiral because good people do nothing and as it has been often said, " the only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." I ask, are those who do nothing really good? I think not. Could they be if they rise up? Absolutely. But will they? Probably not.

Rejection of anonymity, however....

I have a rule to reject all comments that are anonymous or have a silly moniker, but I will slightly modify that rule on this posting.

I received a comment that declared my "amateurish attempt" to be like Rush Limbaugh in his character assassination of Barack Obama. First, I am an amateur. Next, it would be foolish to compete with Limbaugh and last it isn't character assassination it is character suicide. Obama, with his own words, discredits himself.

The writer also states: "I find Mr Getty's ramblings consistently served with a heaping side of sour grapes." No dear writer it's not sour grapes it's profound fear.

Additionally, I'm accused of beginning my statements with the qualifier "I don't know much about his...." I re-read my postings and I find that statement nowhere. However, I readily admit I don't know the inner workings of his brain, but then does anyone? This fellow is one scary character.

So, Mr./Ms/Miss/Mrs. Anonymous, listen to Obama's speeches and you will have all the "substantive documentation" you need.

I knew Lincoln--You are not Lincoln

Over the course of the presidential campaign and at times during the presidency of Obama he has referred to himself as the likeness of Lincoln. In spite of his assessment of himself as the new liberator he is no Lincoln.

Now, let it be known that Lincoln is not my favorite president but compared to Obama he was one wonderful fellow. For the record, Washington was far and away the greatest Chief Executive.
Consider:

* Lincoln's principle--"allowing people to do what they please with their own business"

* Obama's principle-- Be in every one's business because government does everything well(bailouts)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Lincoln said--"It is better only sometimes to be right than at all times to be wrong."

* Obama--Has he ever been right?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Lincoln---"Property (any type of wealth) is the fruit of labor; property is desirable, is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise."

* Obama--Tax the rich out of existence, for they are greedy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Lincoln--"No man is good enough to govern another man without that other's consent."

* Obama-- Did I miss something or is "Yes We Can" about governing without our consent?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the most famous and pithy of Lincoln's statements........"You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you can not fool all the people all the time."

Obama did not fool all the people but he fooled a sufficiently large amount and that was enough to put our Republic and Constitution in grave danger.

OK, so I didn't actually know Lincoln but I do know Obama is no Lincoln.

I'm Soooo Proud!

I'm so proud of our President I can hardly contain my emotions. The Pulitzer Peace Prize, WOW! High and exalted for what he might do.

Peace, such a sweet sounding word. Unfortunately Obama has the spelling wrong. He is probably confused with piece of the action, piece of the pie, piece of the minds of the home boys, and girls (probably all of their minds), piece of our children's minds (government schools), and a 99% piece of our health care. And, The Lord only knows of what else he might want a piece.

WHY CAN'T WE HAVE A GUY LIKE THIS?

Recently at the UN Conference in New York there were four notable speeches. One was by Libyan President Qaddafi, a babbling idiot. Another by Iranian President Ahmadinejab, an evil madman. Yet another by American President Obama, a clueless neophyte. And then there was a powerful speech by Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, a man of courage, intelligent and resolve.

Israel, a small dot on the map of the middle east which wants nothing more than to be left in peace, is the target of mad men all over the area who wish and plan to destroy this small nation. President Netanyahu states emphatically that on his watch Israel will not be bullied or destroyed without a major fight. He does not apologize for Israel's successes in science, humanitarian activities, or literature. Instead, he praises his small county as the only republic in the middle east.

Now turn the page.

President Obama trips all over himself blaming America for every ill in the world when he should be extolling our virtues. He grovels at the feet of dictators when he should be serving notice that a butt kicking is on the way if you "tread on us." Yet he is more concerned about our image than our safety. Netanyahu, on the other hand is strong and resolute. His speech at the UN was powerful and spot on.

So, why can't we have a man like this? The simple answer: we were lazy last year. Let's not be lazy anymore, the price is much too high.

Israel has the man we have the mouse.

FISH, FARMERS, AND FOOLS

The Fish: A 2 inch fish that has no intrinsic value other than to excite and give justification to wacko environmentalist. More on the wackos later.

The Farmers: Those individualists who are the backbone of the food supply in our nation and around the world who are hard working, industrious, and resourceful and, they are the patriots of the land. They are as much as possible self-sufficient and not on the government dole. Dare I say the "salt of the earth."

The Fools: These are the ones who put every possible avenue of silliness you can imagine before common sense and the welfare of mankind. Whale are more important than aborted babies. The snail darter was more important than a hydroelectric dam, and of course the delta smelt, a 2 inch fish, is more important than the welfare of San Joanquin Valley farmers and Americans in general.

And now the story:

If the story is true, and I have every reason to believe it is, the water supply has been cut off from a large portion of land in the San Joanquin Valley of California. The reason: a small, insignificant fish known commonly as the delta smelt is in jeopardy due to the pumping of water from irrigation canals near the effected area of the valley. The small two inch fish is reportedly killed when caught in the intake nozzles of the pumps. Unfortunate for the fish, but life happens, or in this case death.

The problem is not the fish but the environmentalists. As a former nutty environmentalist I know the drill; forget people and their needs and concentrate on bugs, fish and polar bears. Now I don't have anything against animals for, some are fun to play with, (my dog), others are important to use for their products (my chickens' eggs), and other are good to eat. However, animals should never be placed in front of the welfare of humans. If we had to sacrifice every polar bear in the regions of the melting icebergs for the life of one child, I would gladly say, "au revoir."

So, I say to the weak politicians who won't stand up to the lying environmentalists, get a backbone or we'll hand you a "pink slip."

Incidentally, government agencies such as the EPA, IRS, etc. do not have the Constitutional authority to make laws whether it involves the environment or otherwise.

Mobsters and Right Wing Radicals in DC

Not knowing what to expect I settled into my seat on the chartered bus, struck up a conversation with my seatmate and headed for Washington DC. It was Friday September 11 and it was "game on."

Forty-six of my fellow patriots and I were heading into uncharted waters with little or no idea what to expect when we joined a few others in DC to bring our grievances to a "fish dead" Congress.

Estimates range from 60,000 to 2,000,000 participates in the "DC Tea Party" (for the uninformed, the Tea Party is where the AstroTurfers, yahoos, rednecks, Nazis [Nancy Pelosi's description of us], trouble making ignoramuses, and mobster radicals were gathering to exercise our First Amendment right to free speech, PEACEFULLY assembly, and redress of grievances), however, I'll go on record with 1.500,000. For those who doubt the number, please note I was there.

My group of freedom loving radicals arrived at Freedom Plaza about 8:30am on September 12 where a large crowd was building. Faster than anyone could imagine people were coming from every nook and cranny. The street were filled to the point where the police were frantic to get the parade rolling. Traffic was backed up all over town and gridlock was the order of the day.

Finally, the parade started and the masses in true Constitutional form started for the seat of corruption, the US Capital Building.

The day continued with more people, great speeches, and warm fellowship. Conservatives showed their true colors with courtesy, and politeness, and a special helping hand to the handicapped and elderly. No death panel supporters anywhere to be found. There was also no ME, ME, ME, but there was plenty of sharing of water, food, seats or anything that anyone might need. And unlike the Obama inauguration the grounds were left clean. In fact, I have a video of a patriot picking up accidentally discarded papers of an unknown person and properly disposing of them.

The question might be asked. What was different about this protest from others that take place in Washington DC? The answer is simple. Conservatives are by and large gentle, hard working, self sufficient, God fearing people who want nothing from the government but for them to get out of the way of our "unalienable rights," which are those rights "endowed by our Creator," as well as those confirmed in our Constitution.

We are seeing a ground swell of a much needed revolution. A revolution not of blood but of votes. Good God fearing Americans are growing increasingly tired of government, whether city, county, state, or federal wasting our (YES our) money on useless projects, on companies that are nearly as corrupt as the government itself, on pork, illegal aliens and deadbeats who are too lazy to work.

So the call is; continue to rise up Americans, march on City Hall, the County Courthouse, the State Assembly, and the US Congress and throw those who are bums out.

So, I say to big government,"we'll churn our own butter if you will stop stealing our milk."

The Constitution was written and ratified to govern the government not to govern "We the People."

TOWNSHEND ACTS REVISITED

The seventeenth usurpation listed in the Declaration of Independence states, "For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent." Some use the phrase, "Taxation without Representation." Either way it was and is today a burden the American people should not have to carry.

In part the American War for Independence (Revolutionary) was fought for the very cause of oppressive taxation. After the French and Indian War, Great Britain was strapped for money so they found new and burdensome ways to tax the colonist with little or no input from the people themselves.

This naturally angered the people to revolt. Enter the Tea tax on imports, (thus the Boston Tea Party), the Stamp Act, the Sugar act, etc. History tells us that the colonist revolted with varies forms of protests, so it was necessary to impose taxes in clandestine ways. The Townshend Act was the vehicle.

Charles Townshend, with the approval of Parliament and King George III devised a way to impose taxes the colonist would not suspect. These taxes were in the form of a type of value added tax, tax increases where taxes were already part of the economy, and new taxes that were not obvious. In other words, sneak them in here and there so no one would notice.

Taxing today is done in very much the same way . Taxes such as telecommunication, vehicular, licences (stamp act), gasoline, motel, and countless others. The difference is , Townsend didn't get away with it. The tax thieves today go unchallenged. The latest figures state the average American pays all of his/her income in taxes until the end of May. This means we get to keep only 58% of what we earn and the state assemblies, local governments, and beltway crooks get the rest. That's a failing grade even in a government school.

Wake up America. I've never known extortionist to return stolen money out of conscience pangs, therefore, a revolution is in order. Not one of blood or violence but one of anger, protests and voter power. Hand out pink slips liberally, especially in November 2012.

Obama and the "Peter Principle"

In 1968 Dr. Laurence J. Peter demonstrated, at least in theory, the principle that those who are striving to elevate themselves, or are promoted, in their chosen profession to higher levels of status or importance will eventually reach a level of incompetence. This theory is widely known as the "Peter Principle", and such is the case with President Obama.

It might be said (I can't be sure) that Obama was a reasonably competent lawyer. It might also be believed by some that he excelled as a community organizer. Nor, can I imagine, considering his misquotes and lack of understanding, that he was much of a Professor of Constitutional law. Additionally, his competence as a State and US Senator causes me pause. But, one thing of which I am absolutely certain is that he has exemplified the "Peter Principle" as President. His double speak, vacillating answers, and flip flapping decisions leave no doubt that he has hit the ceiling.

To be fair, many Presidents could have better served in other professions and the country would have been better off for it, but most of those Presidents had intelligent and savvy handlers and caused modest damage. Obama, on the other hand, has Chicago Mob types as handlers and advisers and therefore the damage could be devastating.

Many voters realize they made a mistake in November, and are suffering (perhaps silently) for their screw-up and are looking for avenues of redemption. Unfortunately full redemption is three and a half years away, however partial recovering can be made in 2010.

Requiem for a Friend

A dear friend of mine died in November. He was born before World War II but he really did not begin to get sick until after that war. This illness started slowly but got progressively worse. Oh, there were times when he appeared to be recovering and I held out hope that this sickness would not just go into remission but would be a complete recovery. Sadly, it didn't and his health deteriorated.

My buddy was much older than I but we were still great friends. I will never forget the day we met. It was at school when I was very young and he was invited to give us instructions on how our government was supposed to function. He was a wealth of knowledge and he imparted much wisdom to me, although, I must admit I understood very little of what he was teaching at the time. However, as I grew older and matured I began to better understand the true value of our friendship and how I often called on him to help me deal with complex issues in my life. Not everyone liked my friend as I did and they often tried to get him to change. He never would, so those who hated him distorted his words and brought shame on his name. But even in the midst of trials and persecution he stood tall and his words were still true.

Don't misunderstand, my friend had to be shaped and molded slightly over the years but the changes, in most cases, were made with the understanding of his core principles.

There won't be a funeral anytime soon, for my friend will lie in state in Washington, DC for historians to view, but he is dead and I see no hope for his resurrection. Unless the tears of a nation bring him back to life.

I'll miss my friend. His name was Constitution.
