"WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY......"

When the hippies of the sixties started to take over our country Christians did nothing. When the pro abortion zealots began to raise their ugly heads Christians said little. When the White House was desecrated during the Clinton years Christians' protest was little more than a whimper. When the drug dealers raced across the Mexican/US border and illegals flowed like water over a falls Christians hardly hiccuped. When Obama and his minions took over the Executive branch of government and have proceeded to destroy America, Christians said, "oh well, life happens." And now that Islam is trampling on our Judeo-Christian heritage Christians will more than likely fall asleep. And when America is no longer the land of liberty and freedom guess who will look like dumb ducks sitting on a pond and wondering what happened. That's right...CHRISTIANS.

Pogo, from the 1971 cartoon strip by Walt Kelly, stated: "We have met the enemy and he is us." It is a description of environmental pollution, but I think it also aptly applies to Christians, especially Christian Pastors today. Not about the environment but about the degradation of the moral and social status of our once great country.

If America is "right" of center as most polls state then the question must be asked; why are liberals running the country? The answer is simple. Christians and Christians Pastors are political lazy and are afraid of the government that threatens to take away their precious tax exemptions.

So what's to be done. How about the "Black Robe Regiment." The what? LOOK IT UP!!!

DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE LIES

My wife and I sat at breakfast in Myrtle Beach recently when a Muslim teenager wished us a merry Christmas. The youth explained his name meant Jesus. A short while later my wife engaged the Muslim father in a brief conversation about Islam and Christmas. The elder Muslim assured my wife there was no real conflict between Christmas and Muslims in that Abraham was our common ancestor. The conversation went on for awhile as the Muslim father tried to convince my wife that there is no real problem between Muslims and Christians. What he didn't realized is that my wife is savvy about the lies of Islam. He (the Muslim) was trained in effective ways to con the gullible. My wife was not fooled. Unfortunately many are.

To say that all Muslims are on a mission to destroy the foundations of our county and institute Sharia Law is certainly not accurate, but enough are to effectively undermine our Christian heritage, and it is assured that even the majority of the non-activist ones would not make any effort to curtail the movement.

The number of those who support Islam in America is rising at an alarming rate and although that number cannot be curtailed constitutionally, Christians and Jews can certainly rise up and insure that our vote drunk politicians and power hungry judges are not allowed to gut our Judeo-Christian heritage. Conservatives, especially those of faith, must not be stupefied by threats from state and federal governments, rather Patriots must get a backbone and say "enough is enough."

If America can be saved,(there is much doubt) it will not be by those who are obsessed with, "American Idol," Letterman, Leno and all those mine-numbing social networking sites where the most exciting thing that is discussed is the latest football score or who is having a baby, it will be by those who work, work, and work to insure this great American experience will last for generations to come.

LET US NOT GET LAZY

The following post is a letter sent to the supporters of CPOWER, a Tea Party Organization in Wilkes County NC. Written by Mike Jones, this is a sobering challenge to all who would save America.

*************************************************************************************

As we all take a few days off for the holidays, let us reflect on friendships and the reason we came together so many times this past year as well as contemplate the year ahead with all its challenges.

America’s very future lies in a precarious position and it is only through the efforts of citizens like you and I who are gathering all across the land that we have a chance to save this Republic. Yes, the deck is stacked against us mightily. It is easy to become discouraged and give up. There is so much information that bombards us and the evil liberal media wizards control the majority of it. If we are not tuned into the positive and are not trusting our sweet Lord Jesus we will have an extremely difficult year in 2012.

I don’t know the outcome of this next election. Satan has great influence on the events in the world. What we need to remember is that our Heavenly Father is the ultimate everything.

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

A great battle will take place throughout this next year and you will hear evil trumpets try to drown out everything that is good. It will be relentless on the airwaves and in print. Our psyche will be tossed around like a dirty sock in a washing machine. Everything we have grown up believing in will be shaken and distorted.

We, the TEA PARTY, have been standing now for approximately 3 years and CPOWER has been here for almost 1 year! The TEA PARTY has made a great and wonderful noise and have had many successes throughout the thousands of counties and the land. We must not lose sight of the fact that Patriots have been dead asleep for over 200 years and that long slumber has almost cost us everything that is dear to us. We took it for granted and it is IMPOSSIBLE to turn this mighty ship around ‘on a dime’.

I have read accounts where supposed TEA PARTY people are even saying already that the TEA PARTY has failed in that Gingrich and Romney are the frontrunners vs. a staunch TEA PARTY conservative. Are the ones who say this liberal plants, posing as TEA PARTY patriots only to deceive us? It is highly likely and totally within the realm of combat that this kind of trick could be pulled.

Does anyone who will look at events realistically think that 3 years of standing up will cause great leaders to suddenly appear in the highest of places? It is folly to even dream of these things. We must resolve within ourselves to prepare for a never ending war and know that we will lose battles. We must continue this grassroots effort and begin to put into office those who will honor God above all things and who will remain true to his word.

We have much work to do this coming year and we must remain focused. There are elections beginning in May where our Christian votes are needed and I’m talking about LOCAL elections. This is where we can have a major influence and IT WILL TAKE WORK!! If you will take even a couple hours per month (There are almost 750 hours in every month!!) we will be able to make large strides toward the continuance of taking our wonderful country back.

I will continue to promote great fun at our monthly TEA PARTY meetings and will continue listening to your comments towards making our gatherings more effective. We may laugh and have a good time, which is healthy, but don’t think that the seriousness of our situation ever leaves me for a second nor should it leave you.

We have only just begun. We own the CPOWER website for 9 years! This is the longest period of time I could lock it in and I plan to renew it at the end of this contract (we are making plans to improve our site and early next year it should become a more valuable tool for us). As Bruce Bellot sings about the TEA PARTY not going away, we can’t go away! We are all there is! Do you see any other group standing up for America like we do? We are putting our future in the hands of God. I don’t believe it is his will for us to lie around and wait for everything to all work out. I can’t find anything in the scripture where that is his plan or ever was, where he instructed his people to act in this manner. No, He always tells his people to take action in a certain manner and then he will bless them. That is the Biblical messages that I have read and understand to be God’s will time and time again. If we will turn from our sins he will heal the land.

It is one of our missions to help wake the church up. The church is like a cocoon where all kinds of things are happening inside and it is time for something beautiful to emerge!! The cocoon stage has run its course. We are all preached up and believers must now act. We must believe that God is mighty and that His Word is true! We must stand up and take on His strength.

If we work very hard this coming year and then stand and yet lose some battles, maybe even some major ones, that is ok. This war will only end upon Jesus’ return. It could happen in our lifetime, and it could happen long after we are gone. It could very well happen today as the prophecies have been fulfilled as I understand the prophecies but we can’t base our daily actions on thinking this way. We are to ever be on watch and not go to sleep for we don’t know the day nor the hour. We must continue to fight with everything we have yet not burn ourselves out.

Let me say that I believe I have listened to God’s call and am doing all that I can to turn this nation back to God. Let me also say that I have never had a year that my soul was so blessed since my initial re-birth in 1976. I say this to encourage you to heed the call of the Holy Spirit and quench it not! I have experienced friendships that I thought I’d never enjoy and I will always say that TEA PARTY people are the best people in the world with no exceptions!! I hope you bear witness with what I’m saying as well. Have you been blessed with a forgotten closeness to His Spirit this year? As Joe Greene says, we have to come out of our safety zone to receive the blessings of God. So, let us step out in faith this year, more so than we ever have before and do all we can to turn this nation around. Let’s continue our efforts where we can have the most direct and powerful influence, right here in Wilkes County.

Please tell your friends and neighbors about CPOWER and encourage them to come to our next meeting on the 12th of January at the Brushy Mountain Smokehouse & Creamery at 7pm. We are going to have a very powerful meeting, probably one of our BEST!! I will prepare a flyer early next month. Over the holidays and beyond, share with your friends and neighbors what our mission is. Our mission is to education the public on facts concerning what is causing all this trouble in the world. We stand for zero wasteful spending of our tax dollars, not less but zero waste. We want limited government and believe that the market should determine prices, not bureaucrats. We are here to reaffirm the traditions and principles upon which this nation was founded. We believe in personal responsibility and we encourage citizen participation in the political process and empower all citizens with a voice in demanding Constitutional governance. We uphold the constitution and believe it to be divinely inspired and hold steadfast to it. We honor our God with prayer at every meeting and we pledge allegiance to our flag. Huge government will eventually turn completely into Socialism and Socialism DOESN”T WORK!!! It has been tried many times before. It will end up with massive death and despair, always has! Now, I ask you, how can anyone with any kind of brain say that our goals are not correct? What possible reason can someone say that the TEA PARTY is whacked and they won’t come examine it for themselves? Invite everyone to our meetings. Let’s continue to make a difference. We need each other like never before!

I pray you have a very blessed CHRISTmas and the true meaning will be manifest. I pray that we all will be strongly revived by the Holy Spirit of God to begin again to take a stand for what is important in this world.

Let us praise God for He is worthy!! Let us become less so He can become more. Let us rise early every day and pray for strength and guidance and continually pray throughout the day and let us thank him at the end of each day for being with us during the battles. Help us do this daily Oh God until Jesus comes again!

IT'S A FOOL'S FOLLY

There is an often quoted proverb which states that you can please some of the people, some of the time, but you can't please all of the people, all of the time.

This insight is by no means a new one. Over 2500 years ago, the famous Greek slave Aesop illustrated this point in his fable "The Miller, the Son, and the Donkey."

The story is about a miller and his son who were driving their donkey to market. They had not gone far when some girls saw them and broke out laughing. "Look!" they cried. "Look at those fools! How silly they are to be trudging along on foot when the donkey might be carrying one of them on his back."

This seemed to make sense, so the father lifted his son onto the donkey and walked along contentedly by his side. They trod on for a while until they met an old man who spoke to the son scornfully. "You should be ashamed of yourself, you lazy rascal. What do you mean by riding when your poor old father has to walk? It shows that no one respects age anymore. The least you can do is get down and let your father rest his old bones." Red faced with shame, the son got down and made his father get onto the donkey's back.

They had gone only a little further when they met a group of young fellows who mocked them. "What a cruel old man!" jeered one of the fellows. "There he sits, selfish and comfortable, while the poor boy has to stumble along the dusty road to keep up with him."

So the father lifted his son up, and the two of them rode along. However, before they reached the market, a townsman stopped them. "Have you no feeling for dumb creatures?" he shouted. "The way you load that little animal is a crime. You two men are better able to carry the poor little beast than he you!"

Wanting to do the right thing, the miller and his son got off the donkey, tied his legs together, slung him on a pole, and carried him on their shoulders. When people saw this spectacle, they laughed so loudly that the donkey was frightened. The animal kicked through the cords that bound him, fell off the pole into the river and drowned.

The moral of this story is, "He who tries to please everybody pleases nobody."

* This proverb is for all times, especially the caustic environment in which we live.

We live in a time, or maybe it has always been so, when anyone seeking gain, whether political office or other, will resort to the proverbial bending of the truth in order to please others when in fact the truth will provide more gain than the lie.

YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE

In a drama my family and I perform the opening words of a young lady, as she rings a bell are, " The Convention is over." The question is then asked, "what have you given us a republic or a monarchy?" To which I, as Benjamin Franklin, reply, "A republic, ma'am, if you can keep it" (critics will challenge the authenticity of the previous statement, but the principle is valid). The convention to which she is referring is the Constitutional Convention of 1787.

As I read the Ashe Mountain Times of April 14, 2011 I was treated to a summary of another convention. That jewel was the "Ashe County Democratic Party Convention." Now it needs to be understood that, as Americans, we have the right to assemble. But what comes out for public consumption is fair game.

According to the Times the keynote speaker Rev. John Duvall "...goes on the attack..." and the tea parties were his target of choice. Fair enough. Yea First Amendment. However, Rev. Duvall is a little lean on the facts. He accused the, "GOP-TEA Parties," as being, ....."hell bent on wrecking this nation." He continued, "Trust me, I am in my eighth decade and I have never seen or heard of anything like we have going on in North Carolina, in Ashe County and in every state."

There you have it folks. The GOP-TEA Parties are the Bogey-Man and our country had better beware.

As Rev. Duvall stated, he is either an octogenarian or working on it and as such he should certainly know about FDR, who tried to pack the Supreme Court, LBJ who ushered in a boondoggle "Great Society," Jimmy "Trust Me" (where have I heard that?) Carter who grew great peanuts, Bill Clinton, who didn't know the meaning of "IS", and Obama, well he can sure read a teleprompter.

Rev. Duvall has "...never seen or heard..." well, I have. It happened in the mid to latter half of the eighteenth century and was an uprising against a tyrannical King and Parliament. And now it's time again.

And, by the way, the next time Duvall wants "50 black folks" to attend his convention, let me know, the tea party has 100s of thousands and I'm sure 50 would pop in for a chat as long as they aren't required to stay.

Tea Parties....going, going........?

Those in the left wing progressive arena are floating the propaganda that the tea party movement is on the way out and will shortly be ineffective. To quote a guest on Chris Matthew's "Hard Ball", "the tea party balloon is deflating." Is it true or are the nay-sayers just "whistling through the graveyard?"

There has been a resting period for those who worked so hard to insure that the American dream is back on track and that's OK as long as the rest does not become complacency. With tired folks the possibility does exist. As a former runner if I rested too much between races it was difficult getting ready for the next.

How do we stay in sharp? First, we keep our relationship with other patriots active and viable, even if there are no major projects on the table. Next, we never let the cause of liberty leave our lips. Additionally, be ready , willing, and able to move quickly to take on the nay sayers in policy, legislature, debate, and activism. "Be instant in season; out of season." Also, it is imperative to let our legislators know we are watching.

Liberty and freedom are not, nor ever have been instruments of the lazy or static. They are for the energetic and dynamic. Let our guard down and it is parry-thrust with us on the business end of the sword.

Sappy and Sickening

While sitting peacefully on my sofa eating popcorn and channel surfing I landed in the backwash of a wave I rarely see...MSNBC. What made me stay in this wilderness of sap I will never know but there I was. The program I was watching was The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell or Let's Slobber Over Keith Olbermann.

O'Donnell droned on about how Olbermann was a wonderful purveyor of truth and his sacrificial mentor. It got so sappy there for a while I picked my feet up from the floor to avoid ..... well you know what.

Now, it's admirable to love your friends no matter their proclivity toward absurdity, but it would be wise to keep it in the family. On the other hand I guess those who regularly watch MSNBC are family, all ten of them. I was just an uninvited intruder.

The point is, Keith Olbermann was a vendor of unbridled hatred. His Op-Ed pieces were so filled with vitriol that he makes Sen Steven Cohen look mild and Hannity look like a choir boy. O'Donnell picked up the mantel with great enthusiasm.

Even when O'Donnell digressed from his journalistic obituary and attempted the news it was the attitudinal shadow of Olbermann and very little commentary worth enduring. Then it was back to the ramblings about Keith O.

Oh well, I'm sure MSNBC, if such a poll were taken, would come in behind Peewee Herman marries Yvonne.

O'Donnell while gasping for air did mention West Wing and how it has run for 8 (?) seasons and is highly rated. Duh..what does that have to do with the MSNBC debacle?

Then came Rachel Maddow sloshing through mire with her comment about the "Republicans in disarray." Maddow did you miss November 2, 2010?

I headed for bed and decided to leave a night light on in case I had nightmares.

Simmer Down so says the Editor

The following is a letter a friend, Cynthia Wadsworth, sent to our local paper:

Dear Editor,

Response to Simmer Down

Politicizing a Tragedy
Mr. Adamson is politicizing a horrible, senseless tragedy. This is the far left blaming the far right. Has the liberal left become so desperate that they must engage in shameful finger pointing at the conservative right? The finger pointing was immediate and it was totally irresponsible and Mr. Adamson is engaging in this finger pointing.
Jared Loughner, the shooter, had shown a tendency toward mental illness for years. His friend stated that he engaged Senator Giffords in a previous public meeting 3 years ago, by asking her a question that made no sense. He was known for rambling outbursts in math class and in the school library. His you tube video showed very little connections in his thoughts. He showed signs of paranoia. He admits to drug use. He failed an exam to join the Army because of his drug use. Does this explain his violent behavior? Perhaps the combination of drugs and mental illness will be to blame; we do not have that answer. It certainly does not excuse his behavior. It does not appear that he ever had an evaluation by a mental health professional even though his mental instability had been questioned by many who knew him.
What is missed is that in his ramblings posted on the internet and in some of his writings, is that he never mentions current political issues. He does not mention the vitriol that we have had crammed down our throats the last few days. There is no mention of the health care debate, or gun control issues. In my opinion he was so far out of touch with reality that he was not aware of these issues. His target could have been anyone from any political party. He just had access to Giffords over the last several years based on location. Had he lived in Alaska, it could have been Sarah Palin if he had access to her and was able to engage her in his ramblings. It could have been any politician in any state. Jared Loughner happened to live in Arizona.
We should question, instead, how this man fell through the cracks. We should question what is wrong with our mental health system when someone has had symptoms for years and no one pushed for this young man to get help as a teenager or young adult? He was dismissed by the college he attended and told not to return until he had received a mental health evaluation. He did not get one.
The words “simmer down” I have never heard used by grandparents or parents. I have only heard it used on Saturday Night Live. This is not the time to “simmer down.” Locally, some of us are having our property rights taken away by the town of West Jefferson without our permission. We must speak up or we will continue to lose our rights. I am sure “simmer down” is what many on the far left want those of us who are outspoken to do. I am sure that was the message given to us by the West Jefferson town aldermen in June when they paraded the police officers out the back door and then in the front door of town hall at the ETJ meeting. They wanted to be sure we “simmer down now” quoting the Saturday Night live version.
Giffords is outspoken and a trailblazer and I hope that she is able to recover from this senseless violence. We need more just like her. She would not want us to “simmer down.” I am also a traumatic brain injury survivor, and it is a long, long road to recovery and that road may have to be measured in years. Recovery is possible and I will pray that she is blessed with skilled caregivers and a loving family. This was a horrible tragedy and we must recognize it as such.

The Motive of a Mad Man???

We knew it was going to happen but that does not make it any less disgusting.

Tucson, Arizona was the scene where a piece of garbage carrying a weapon shot and killed many innocent people and wounded many others. It was a violent act by a crazy man with a leftest past, but that did not stop the progressive pseudo-journalist, such those at CNN, MSNBC, Daily COS, moveon.org and others, from blaming the tea party activists and specifically Sarah Palin. As was said by President Obama's former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel "you never want a serious crisis to go to waste," and believe me the liberals wasted no time in capitalizing on this crisis.

As the co-founder of the tea party movement in Ashe County, "We The People Of Ashe County," I am angered and offended by the relentless barrage of unfounded accusations cast at the conservative movement. Not one act of violence has ever been linked to our movement and our leadership will ensure that it never does.

Tea partiers are God fearing, America loving, and devoted to family citizens who want only the best for our county, state, and nation. However, those who champion the socialist agenda of the left care nothing about our republic and Constitution, and will place the Arizona tragedy well into the Ban-the-Guns mantra leaving our citizens helpless and at the mercy of such maniacs like the one in Tucson and pleading with an increasingly corrupt government to do what it cannot do--- protect us.

I am well acquainted with many tea party movements around the state and nation and I know the last thing we want is a nut-case in our midst and we will do everything we can to disassociated ourselves from such leaven.

The left's greatest fear is an educated society and our nation, thanks in large part to the tea party movement, is becoming increasingly more educated on matters of government and the Constitution and there is nothing more terrifying to the oligarchy than the subjects becoming informed.

"We The People of Ashe County" is the needed clarion call to liberty and freedom in our comunnity and if the people will listen we will see the fruit of our efforts in the education of our children as well as our adults and once again the knowledge of being an American will swell our hearts with pride and patriotism.

Death by union strangulation

The news from New York is not good. But then it rarely is. The major networks reported that New York city workers deliberately slowed down the clearing of snow from the streets of the "Big Apple" in order to protest budget cuts. The result (allegedly) was the death of an infant because the ambulance could not get to the hospital due to snow covered roads.

There has been an outcry from the union bosses that no employee would do, or be ordered to do, such at thing, to which I say balderdash. I was a member of a union spanning 30 plus years and I can stand four square on the knowledge that such can happen does happen and will happen in the future if the unions are allowed to continue unfettered and out of control.

I have no problem with collected bargaining for wages and benefits within corporations as long as reasonable limits are placed on such negotiations by scrupulous union officials and sensible corporate leaders. However, public service employees should not be unionized.

Teacher's unions are another problem. If our dear readers keep up with my writings they know that I greatly respect our teachers and the difficult job they have. My issue is not with them it is with the national and state unions that gridlock our education system and steal that precious commodity called knowledge from our children. With political correctness, global warming, recycling, touchy-feely indoctrination, and identity glorification, most supported by teacher's unions, little time is left for meaningful instructions and our children are being intellectually robbed.

Additionally, the regulations on unions should be a state issue and not a federal one, unless irrefutable evidence can be shown that the interstate commerce clause is solidly in play.

Unions had their place in America but I believe their time has passed.
